Northern Sweden - 29th of July until 9th of August
During ten days in the beginning of August 2015, me and my family headed North from Scania with the goal to yet again visit Ammarnäs. This time we went by car to be able to visit some places on our way. We visited my grandfathers birth place in the middle of the deep forest in northern Värmland, along with the the national park of Fulufjället on our way there. On our way back we visited the area were a fierce fire ravaged a forest in Västmanland during 2014.
Like last year, our goal was to do some bird ringing and hiking. It was terrifying quite in the birch forest, and we caught very few birds, especially juveniles. If this is the case in the rest of northern Sweden, it will probably affect the population of birds. The reason for the bad breeding season is probably the cold summer that has been hanging around, which on the other hand were the reason to why we could enjoy a lot of flowers that usually are withered in August Except for this, the trip was very good. |
